Carelancer is committed to fostering a safe and secure environment for Care Providers and Care Seekers on our platform. This policy outlines the requirements for annual background checks to ensure a trusted and reliable community.
Why Background Checks Are Important
As part of our mission to provide safe in-home support services to a potentially vulnerable clientele, annual background checks verify the trustworthiness and qualifications of Care Providers. This safeguards our community and ensures peace of mind for everyone using the Carelancer platform.

Background Check Requirements
1. Who Must Complete a Background Check? All Care Providers registered with Carelancer are required to complete an enhanced background check annually.
2. What Is Verified in a Background Check? Background checks confirm criminal history, professional credentials, and may include other relevant factors reasonably determined by Carelancer, ensuring compliance with our safety and service standards.

Background Check Requirements
All Care Providers on the Carelancer platform are required to complete an annual enhanced background check. This ensures the safety and trustworthiness of our community.
As a general rule, only convictions that directly relate to a Care Providers’s suitability to offer services should result in revocation of their Carelancer account.
How to Complete Your Background Check
1. If you have already completed a background check within the last 2 months, upload it through the Document Section of your Carelancer account.
2. For Care Providers requiring a new background check, Carelancer has partnered with a trusted background check provider.

Privacy
Any personal information you provide us or which is collected by Carelancer as part of its background check process will be processed in accordance with our Care Provider privacy policy.
Maintaining Compliance
Compliance with this policy is mandatory for all Care Providers. Failure to submit a valid background check may result in the suspension or termination of your account, at Carelancer’s sole discretion. Care Providers found to have falsified or misrepresented background information will be permanently removed from the platform.
Moreover, should a Care Provider subject to this policy be charged with an offence that is relevant or potentially relevant to their role as a member of the Carelancer community at any time before the annual review, they must inform Carelancer in a timely fashion. Failure to do so may result in the termination of their account, at Carelancer’s reasonable discretion.

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it aligns with current laws and continues to enhance service quality and safety on the platform.
