Deactivation and Deletion Policy
Purpose
This policy outlines the differences between deactivation (temporary suspension of account access initiated by the user or platform) and deletion (permanent removal of account and associated data), as well as the processes for each.
Policy Statement
Deactivation refers to the temporary suspension of an account, during which the user’s data is retained but access to the platform is restricted. Deletion involves the permanent removal of all account data and cannot be reversed.
Key Guidelines
Scenarios for Deactivation
Deactivation may occur under the following circumstances:
-
At the user’s request: Users may choose to temporarily deactivate their account.
-
Due to a breach of the platform’s policies or terms of service: Accounts may be deactivated by the platform pending investigation or resolution.
Reactivation
-
Eligibility: Users can reactivate their account at any time by logging back in or contacting Customer Support if assistance is needed.
-
Process: Upon login or request, the account will be reviewed, and reactivation will occur if no unresolved issues are present.
-
No Time Limit: Deactivated accounts will remain inactive indefinitely unless the user requests deletion.
Deletion
Scenarios for Deletion
Deletion may occur under the following circumstances:
-
At the explicit request of the user: Users may choose to have their account permanently removed.
-
Following severe and irreversible policy violations: Accounts that breach the platform’s policies in a manner deemed severe and unresolvable will be subject to deletion.
Process for Deletion
-
User-Initiated Deletion:
-
Users must submit a formal request via email or through account settings to permanently delete their account.
-
A confirmation process will ensure the user understands the implications of deletion.
-
-
Platform-Initiated Deletion:
-
Users will receive a notification at least 30 days prior to deletion due to inactivity or policy violations.
-
The notification will include steps to reactivate the account or appeal the decision.
-
Impact of Deletion
-
Permanent Removal of Data: All account data, including user details, messages, and history, will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Certain data may be retained temporarily to comply with legal or regulatory requirements.
-
Loss of Access: Deleted accounts cannot be reactivated. Users wishing to return to the platform must create a new account.
-
Impact on Associated Accounts: If applicable, linked accounts or profiles may also be affected depending on the nature of the deletion.
Policy Review
This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it aligns with current laws and continues to enhance user experience and platform safety.
